Company overview

Prom Racing is a team participating in FSAE and Formula Student international competitions. Each team must design, build and race a F1 style racing car. Teams, also, have to raise sponsorships, which will be used to cover expenses. Founded in 2008 by students of National Technical University of Athens (ΕΜΠ) --Faculty of Mechanical Engineering-- who were willing to exceed their knowledge and skills in designing and building a race car. Within months of its foundation Prom Racing Team managed to classify First in Class3 event of Formula SAE competition in Italy. Next goal of the team would be manufacturing a competitive car and participate in Class1 of Formula SAE and Formula Student competitions. In 2011, Prom Racing’s first car got the green light to participate in Formula Student Hungary and Formula SAE Italy competitions. The outcome was rather rewarding especially in Hungary where the team won the Cost and Manufacturing Award among 30 other teams. In 2015, the team was reorganized, and new members joined. We worked as a newcomer once again and the outcome was quite successful, as we managed to build a brand new racing car and participate in 2016 Formula Student Czech Republic event. The experience was amazing and the comments we received totally encouraging. In 2017, Prom Racing participated in Formula Student Austria, one of the most intense FS events worldwide and ranked 18th out of 31 competing teams, scoring first place in the Endurance event, which is considered the most demanding of the whole competition. 2018 was also a successful year for the team. Following a one-year plan we designed and manufactured our third racing car and qualified to take part in two of the most challenging competitions in the world, FS Hungary and Austria, achieving 7th and 11th place. Some important milestones were being placed 3rd and 2nd in the Business Plan event and in Austria finishing 2nd in the Cost and Manufacturing and 3rd in Skidpad events. In 2019 we qualified for three European competitions, FS Hungary, Austria and Germany, scoring 10th, 9th and 10th place respectively. Our car was faster than ever, finishing first place in the Skidpad event, falling to break the world record by just 0.02 sec. Prom Racing is the very first out of all Greek teams to dominate the score board of a dynamic event. We also won the special prize for the most innovative racing car in the Hungarian competition and the Business Plan Presentation subclass managed to gain a place in TOP 7, in all three competitions. Finally, in Germany, we made it to the Design Finals, getting Prom Racing to be the first ever Greek team to achieve such a feat and we won 4th place in the Efficiency event. Of course, 2020 was a challenging year for all of us, Prom Racing included. That year the team decided to take the next step and transition to the electric category. Even though we qualified for the competitions in Austria, Germany and FS East no event actually took place. However, we did participate in the FS Online event where we won 6th place. This year we continue our years of the hard work and we keep the Prom Spirit alive! We have even greater expectations and we are looking forward to represent the greek colors in the 2021's FS competitions
